The competition consisted of six girls from each country: two 16’s and four 14’s. They played five matches per day and the winning country is determined by the best of fifteen matches.

Representing the United States: 14’s: Andrea Remynse (Battle Creek, Michigan), Yasmin Schnack (Indialantic, Florida), Karina Porushkevich (Woodland Hills, California) and Krysty Marcio (Coral Springs, Florida). 16’s: Riza Zalameda (Los Angeles, California) and Kady Pooler (Laguna Niguel, California). The U.S. Captain was Valerie Ziegenfuss.

The Australia team members were: 14’s: Olivia Lukaszewicz, Bojana Bobusic, Natalie Tanevska, and Stephanie De LaTorre. The Australian Captain was Nicole Bradtke.

The United States team has won the event every year except 1980 and 1987. The United States continues to lead the competition 13-3. The event alternates countries each year between Australia and the United States. The beautiful silver Bell is a replica of the Liberty Bell and was donated back into the competition by Jess Bell of the Bonne Bell Company, former sponsor of the event.

Mrs. Frank Jeffett (President and Trustee of the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation) presented the Bell to the winning Australian team along with Geoff Pollard, President Tennis Australia. Margaret Court was the Honorary Patron of the event.

This is one of the many tennis tournaments presented by the foundation to further junior tennis development in the United States and throughout the world.
