Austin’s  blogs from his week at IMG:

Day 4:
This past week has been one of the best experiences I have ever had! I cannot thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to come here. I feel more motivated and I have found renewed confidence in my game. This camp has made me realize how hard I am capable of working and how good I can become. Also I got to experience here a similar lifestyle to which I am going to be living in college.

Thanks again,
 Austin Mayo

Day 3:

The schedule for tennis training here is practice from 7:30am to 10am. Then from 10 to 11, we have an intense fitness training. From there, we go to mental training until noon and then there are scheduled matches at 1. Here, they focus mainly on perfecting the basic technical part of a players game. The coaches have helped me figure out simple parts of my game that I have forgotten about over my years of play. For fitness, we run around four courts and they give us a few core workouts and some speed and agility training. For the mental training, we learn how to control the conscious and subconscious mind on court, as well as making goals to help motivate you to improve.

In the Dining Hall, they provide a buffet of healthy food and also there are signs instructing you on what foods you should eat to give you the most nutrition and energy for the day and certain foods that are bad and you should stay away from.
 Sincerely,
Austin Mayo

Day 2:

Bollettieri gets better as the week goes on! I have become more relaxed and already feel like I am a part of this Academy. Recently I advanced to the first group and I got the opportunity to play against a girl that is about to turn pro which I thought was awesome. She is only thirteen but she has a better game than any junior player I have seen. I’m not just saying that cause she beat me.

Thanks to IMG, I am in the best shape I have ever been in, my tennis game has improved, and I have made new friends from all over the world that I will keep in touch with even after I leave here.

Sincerely,
Austin Mayo

Day 1

As I first arrived at IMG Bollettieri’s,  I was nervous because I am away from my family, and I knew it would be tough fitting in with new people. I was wrong though. Everyone at this academy is just as new as I am or knows how it feels to be the new kid so they welcome you and make it easy to make friends.

The best part about it is you get to play tennis with people from all around the world! I have made friends with people from Japan, Serbia, Italy and many more countries. The coaches also split you up into groups, not according to your age but on your skill level. The coaches also focus on each player individually and makes them give their best every time.

I love being here! The effort and competitiveness  of other players is great. You are playing with people who want to get better and playing at an academy with a great reputation.
