Sean Karl, former Little Mo champion, passes away from cancer. Sean was a sophomore on Univ. of Tennessee tennis team.

Sean died Sunday in Knoxville after a two-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of tissue and bone cancer that predominately attacks adolescents and young adults. “We all loved Sean,” Tennessee head coach Sam Winterbotham said. “He impacted us all in such an amazing way. His outlook on life and his infectious positivity made people around him better. He is without doubt the toughest person I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. “We are all hurting right now, but we are all left with the knowledge that Sean helped us become better people. We miss him.” Sean was an absolute competitor, from the tennis courts where he out-willed and outworked any opponent he faced to his courageous fight against the disease that ended his life at age 20. Charlotte Owensby wins record 5th straight Little Mo Nationals title in Austin.

Charlotte Owensby wins a record 5th straight “Little Mo” Nationals title Charlotte Owensby from Boca Raton, Florida made “Little Mo” history this weekend at the Austin Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas  – October 24-27. Charlotte won her 5th straight “Little Mo” Nationals title. She won the Nationals girls 8 as a 7 old in 2010, won the 8’s title as again in 2011, 9’s in 2012, 10’s in 2013 and 11’s in 2014.  Amazing feat that has never been done before in the 17 year history of the “Road to the “Little Mo” Nationals. Blair Shankle previously held the record with 4 straight “Little Mo” National titles.   Not only is Charlotte a champion on the court, her sportsmanship is outstanding as well.  She represents the ideals of Maureen “Little Mo” Connolly.
