Anne Smith, 10 time grand slam champion, will be the guest speaker at the “Little Mo” Internationals and giving complimentary clinics for players

Anne Smith, a 10 time Grand Slam doubles/mixed doubles champion from 1980-1984 and former #1 doubles player in the world will be the guest speaker at the “Little Mo” Internationals and will also be giving a “complimentary” one hour on-court clinic for all “Little Mo” international players at the PGA National Resort & Spa on Friday, December 7.  Anne will also be giving a 30 minute talk on mental toughness on Friday, December 7 following the opening ceremony at the PGA Honda Pavillion.                                  Ages 8, 9, & 10: 12:30 – 1:30pm                                Ages 11 & 12:       1:45 – 2:45pm Anne has her doctorate in educational psychology and will be giving a “complimentary” 30 minute talk to all “Little Mo” players and parents on mental toughness and sports psychology from 5:00 – 5:30 on Friday, December 7 at the PGA National Resort & Spa (Honda Pavillion). 250 players from 35 countries set to compete next weekend in “Little Mo” Internationals in Florida

The 6th annual “Little Mo” Internationals is set to begin on Friday, December 7 at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  The player check-in Friday afternoon at PGA along with a “complimentary” clinic given by Anne Smith, 10 time grand slam champion.  The opening ceremony/player parade will begin at 3:45pm at PGA followed by a talk on mental toughness given by Anne Smith at 5:00pm. Matches will begin on Saturday morning and continue through Tuesday, December 11.  (Wednesday, December 12 is a rain date or if there are any delays.)  Matches will also be played at BallenIsles Country Club.  Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles for boys and girls 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. www.mcbtennis.org

Xavier Gonzalez wins Boys 16 USTA National Open – credits “Little Mo” for the spark that ignited his passion for tennis

Former “Little Mo” participant Xavier Gonzalez won the Boys 16 singles championship at the USTA’s National Open played in Austin, Texas from November 23-25. En route to the title, Gonzalez defeated five opponents. Seeded number two, he triumphed over Shaun Berman (Miami, Florida) in the R32, Tillman Haynes (Dallas, Texas) in the R16, number five seed Lee-Shawn Stein (Edmond, Oklahoma) in the quarterfinals, number three seed Kyle Mautner (Greenwich, Connecticut) in the semi-finals, and Emil Reinberg (Atlanta, Georgia) in the finals. Master tennis coaches believe that it takes seven years to develop an elite high-performance player. This has certainly been the case with Xavier. His first organized competition was the “Little Mo” Southern California sectional in San Diego in 2005, where he lost both of his matches. Dear Players and Parents: We hope you are planning to join us at the “Little Mo” Internationals in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from December 7-12, 2012.  The tournament is open to any player from the USA and worldwide ages 8-12.  News Flash: Players age 8, 9 and 10 have the option of playing with traditional yellow ball or the green dot ball at the “Little Mo” Internationals.   By offering the yellow ball division for players 10 & under, the “Little Mo” continues its tradition of players playing others who are similar in age and ability.
