Hana Mandlikova to speak during “Little Mo” Nationals Opening Ceremony

Hana Mandlikova, winner of 4 Grand Slam tournaments, will speak at the 2010 “Little Mo” Nationals opening ceremony on Friday, October 15 at the Austin Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas.  Hana won the Australian Open twice and the French Open and U.S. Open once.  She first came to the tennis world’s attention as a junior player. In 1978, the International Tennis Federation launched the world junior rankings, and Mandlíkova became the first ever female World No. 1 junior player.

CBS Feature about Little Mo Connolly

CBS airs a feature about Little Mo Connolly after a match where Chris Evert ties Maureen Connolly’s record of 3 US Open crowns in a row with a win over Wendy ‘The Rabbit’ Turnbull in 1977. She went on to break the record, winning 4 in a row, and then a record 6 out of 8 years from 1975-1982. The match was gamely contested by Turnbull, who later became Evert’s most regular doubles partner in the 80s.   Fast forward to the 7:55 mark in the video to see the Little Mo Connolly feature.
