Chris Evert to be the Guest Speaker at the Little Mo Internationals in Florida on December 1st at 4:00pm…

Great news! MCB is honored to welcome Chris Evert as the guest speaker for the  2017 “Little Mo” Internationals at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach  Gardens, Florida. She will be speaking at the Opening Ceremony at the PGA on  Friday, December 1. The ceremony will start at 4:00pm with the Player Parade and end approximately at 5:00pm. Approximately 400 players from 40 different  countries have already registered! There are very few tennis movies and two of the best are the new movie starring Emma Stone as Billie Jean King.  The other great tennis movie is the Maureen “Little Mo” Connolly Story.  It was a made for tv movie in 1978 with major movie stars as Mark Harmon, Leslie Nielsen, and others. Congratulations to Sloane Stephens for winning the US Open. She played on the Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy (US vs. Great Britain).  Madison was runner up and played “Litlte Mo”. Cori Gauff was a former “Little Mo” Nationals champion and was runner up in the US Open Girls singles.

In Memoriam: Hall of Famer Nancy Jeffett July 16, 1928 – July 6, 2017       Nancy P. Jeffett, an impactful tennis industry leader who was instrumental in advancing women’s professional tennis and in developing opportunities for promising junior players, passed away peacefully on July 6. Jeffett was 88 years old. In recognition of her immense contributions to growing the sport, Jeffett was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2015. In 1972, Jeffett made history when she facilitated the first ever network broadcast of women’s tennis, dramatically boosting the profile of the sport and growing interest in women’s tennis. A determined promoter and savvy businesswoman, Jeffett refused to take no for an answer when she was told “no one would pay to watch women’s tennis or tune in on television.” In 1969, she became one of the first female tennis promoters in the sport when she…

Congratulations to former “Little Mo” champion  Borna Coric for winning his first ATP title after  saving 5 match points!! “I would say that’s my biggest comeback, I’ve  never saved five match points,” said Coric.  “Especially in such an important match, I served  very well in the big points. It’s an awesome  feeling. I didn’t know what to expect when I  came here and I wasn’t in the best shape. Congratulations to former Little Mo champions Charlotte Owensby and Nishesh Basavareddy for their fine results at the 50th Annual Easter Bowl

Congratulations to former “Little Mo”  champion Charlotte Owensby for winning the  G14division at the 50th Annual Easter Bowl in Indian  Wells, California. She defeated Gianna Pielet (another  “Little Mo” player) in the final: 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 after being  down 2-5 and saving 7 match points. Congratulations  to both players for their fine play!!   We would also like to congratulate former “Little Mo” Nationals champion Nishesh Basavareddy. He was the Runner-Up in the Boys 12 division and also the Winner of the B12 Doubles at the Easter Bowl. Nishesh won the “Little Mo” Slam in its first year in 2013 by winning all three “Little Mo” Internationals (California, New York, and Florida) and taking home the tallest trophy given in junior tennis – 6 feet tall!   A special congratulations to these former “Little Mo” players for continuing their fine play at the 2017 Easter Bowl:   Singles Claire Liu (Winner – Girls 18)…
