Happy Birthday to Maureen Little Mo Connolly – Drawing contest with prizes is now open for all Little Mo players in honor of Maureen’s special day
Happy Birthday to our founder, Maureen “Little Mo”
Connolly, a true role model for good sportsmanship on and off the court. As the
first woman to win the calendar Grand Slam in 1953, she is the only American
woman and the youngest player at age 18 to have accomplished this magnificent
feat. Only four other players in the history of tennis have achieved the Grand
Slam, winning all four major singles titles in one calendar year: Don Budge,
Rod Laver, Margaret Court, and Steffi Graf.
In honor of Maureen’s special day, we invite all
“Little Mo” players to email their best drawing with a tennis/birthday
theme to cartennis@aol.com by Sunday, September 20th at noon. All drawings will
be posted on our Facebook page. The artist with the most “likes” by
September 25th will be the winner and earn a ‘complimentary’ entry into our “Little
Mo” Internationals in Florida at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm
Beach Gardens from December 4-9, 2015. There will other prizes awarded as well.
Any junior player age 7-14 can sign up! Last year, we had
375 players from 40 countries worldwide compete in the “Little Mo”
internationals in Florida. To register, please follow the link: www.littlemoflorida.com.
